Tunnelmia IAB:n syyskokouksesta
IAB:n historian ensimmäinen syyskokous pidettiin 23.11.2016 Kukontorin Meeting Parkissa. Hallituksen valmistelemat investointiehdotukset IAB:n toiminnan kehittämiseksi saivat innostuneen vastaanoton. Niinpä vuonna 2017 saamme nauttia 20-vuotisjuhlinnan lisäksi IAB:n brändikiteytyksen tuloksista, entistä terävämmästä viestinnästä sekä työryhmätoiminnan aivan uusiin sfääreihin nostavasta yhteisestä sosiaalisesta työskentelyalustasta, IAB Kosmoksesta. Näistä kuulemme lisää heti alkuvuonna. Ehdotus jäsenmaksujen eräpäivän siirtämisestä tammikuun lopulle sai myös hyväksynnän.
Syyskokous muistutti, että IAB:n tulee jatkossa ottaa laajempi rooli alan vaikuttajana ja kirkastaa rooliaan myös päättäjien silmissä. 20-vuotisen taipaleensa aikana IAB on kasvanut pikkuruisesta digiherännäisten puuhastelusta merkittäväksi alan kehitykseen vaikuttavaksi toimijaksi. Aloittaessani 10 vuotta sitten, syksyllä 2006, IAB:n toiminnanjohtajana digimedian osuus oli muutamia prosentteja mediamainonnasta ja nyt digimedia on suurin yksittäinen mediaryhmä 29 %:n osuudella kattaen kolmanneksen mediakakusta.
Syyskokouksen päätti Aller Median toimitusjohtajan Pauli Aalto-Setälän alustuksen innoittama paneelikeskustelu datan merkityksestä digimarkkinoinnin tulevaisuudessa. Paulin mukaan datan merkitys on ymmärretty vihdoin kuuluvaksi liiketoiminnan keskiöön ja päätökset eivät enää perustu intuitioon. Tehokkaalla datan hyödyntämisellä suunnittelujänne voidaan lyhentää. 12 kk:n suunnitelmat riittävät, sillä pitkän tähtäimen strategiat eivät enää toimi nopeasti muuttuvassa ympäristössä. Markkinointia ei tarvitse tehdä enää keskiarvoihmiselle, vaan voidaan suunnata viestit aidosti yksilölle.
Pauli kehotti tulevaisuudessa kiinnittämään huomiota mm. näihin ilmiöihin:
- Yritykset uskaltavat antaa dataa käyttöön ja palvelemaan liiketoimintaa
- Datayhteistyötä voidaan tehdä julkaisijoiden kesken, yksin ei enää pärjää!
- Yksityisyyden suoja ja tietoturva kiristyvät, asiantuntija-apuun kannattaa panostaa
- Uutismedia tulee heräämään uudelleen henkiin, uskottavuus on karissut Brexitin ja Trumpin myötä
- Suomalainen media ei saa kadota
- Data vai tunnemarkkinointi? Tieto tunteesta korostuu
Vilkasta keskustelua paneelissa kävivät Klikkicomin Jukka Sundquist, DNA:n Kati Sulin, Alma Median Merja Pyhälä, Caratin Lasse Iskanius ja Googlen Mikko Viitanen. Keskustelusta jäi mieleen ainakin seuraavat kommentit:
- Data on polttoaine, joka siivittää asiakkaan liiketoimintaa. Se mahdollistaa liiketoiminnan tehostamista ja uutta bisnestä.
- Tietoa on aina käytetty päätöksenteon tueksi, mutta nyt kun sitä on tarjolla näin paljon, tarvitaan oikeat asiantuntijat analysoimaan sitä.
- Tulevaisuudessa perus mediatoimistotyö ohjelmallisoituu ja toimisto suunnittelee strategisempia asioita. Luova suunnittelu ei katoa!
- Suurin pullonkaula on poisoppiminen vanhasta.
- Tietosuoja-asetus on vaikea tulkittava. Mitä se tarkoittaa käytännössä? Koko Eurooppa on nyt odottavalla kannalla ja evästedirektiivi selviää tammikuussa.
IAB Finlandin kevätkokous pidetään 16.3. klo 14.00-16.00. Asialistalla on ainakin suuri jäsenmaksu-uudistus.
